Bathroom disasters...

The sickess has been there but not so bad for the last couple of days - can't have it too easy I guess! But managing to battle on through. Stress of smaller granddaughter has been starting to tell a little, one or two minor sense of humour failures on Grandma's part, but surviving. The trouble is that a child who won't respond straight away is a bit of a pain during every day life but is a liability and a danger if they happen to be aboard a boat... so maybe sailing isn't the right pastime for this little treasure for a while. The taller granddaughter loved it, thought that the bumpy sea was a fairground ride and even got over the fact that she had felt slightly sick at the beginning... didn't even want to come in out of the rain when we got back to the shore!

Pub supper in the evening so at least I didn't have to cook which was a blessing. It's a shame that I am really not enjoying a drink these days, I got the opportunity to not drive and drank one glass of ginger beer... boooring old me!

Decided to have a bath - a rare treat as I can't put my arm under water while I have the PICC line fitted, so I tend to shower, but I thought I deserved a nice soak... and just at the right moment dear husband arrived and was inviegled into washing my back... so he sat down on the loo and leaned across to get the soap - at which point the pan on the toilet gave an awful crunching noise and cracked all the way down! OK, it was fitted in 1981 and was the colour of chocolate mousse, not exactly fashionable, we had intended to replace it some time - but not in the middle of a Friday evening! This caused great consternation to the young lady visitors, who could not quite handle the fact that we all had to pee in a bucket for the rest of the night...
Saturday morning's entertainment has, therefore been the Toilet Replacement game... visit to DIY store to buy "Toilet to Go" (what marketing team came up with that one?!), then various trips back to other (nearer) DIY store to get the bits they don't include in the package - like something to connect the cistern to the 15mm water pipe... we could have reused the old connector but it was all rather nasty and it seemed a shame... it took a few hours but by 2pm we had a functional, shiny, white, modern toilet, complete with the nice pine IKEA toilet seat that I bought about 5 years ago and had never got around to fitting!

After the celebratory peeing by each member of the family in turn, we realised that we had exactly four minutes to get elder granddaughter to the hairdressers... However we rushed, the traffic was kind, there was a parking space and now she has short, spiky, funky hair - as she left the stylist said "Have you seen Twilight? You know, that style makes you look just like Alice..." RESULT! One happy smiling person walking ever so slightly above the ground.
As I type, the screaming from downstairs has restarted, with a stern voice saying "you deserved that" - and a waily one crying "Grandmaaaaa......." Now, do I go or do I not? The question is, do I feel lucky?
down I go...
