Exercise

Well, I walked all the way down to the seafront to watch the fireworks - and then all the way back! Not a huge hike by normal standards but I was worried that I might not make it home, and dear husband had taken the precaution of arranging with a neighbour to get a lift back if I was too far gone to make it under my own steam.. I am pleased to report that I didn't need the lift, and actually still felt mostly human when we got back. It was probably a couple of miles all told, as I said not a huge hike but more than I have managed for a while!
The guests came, they ate what I provided and pronounced it "very nice" - they could have just been very polite but there were no leftovers so I figure that's a good sign. We looked at their photos of the summer sailing in the Mediterranean, we became instantly most jealous and keen to be afloat soon. They looked at our photos of dinner on the sandbank in the harbour and became instantly concerned for our sanity - they should know the score there by now!

'Tis Halloween tonight, All Souls' Eve if you prefer, so time to remember those who have gone before us, including those who's battle with the big "C" has not been so straightforward as mine. Time also to reflect that the wheel of the year turns on, and although summer turns to winter, it turns back to Spring, and that bad times are generally replaced by good times eventually. So I am hoping that my trials and tribulations will be ending soon and I am looking forward to regaining my health properly very soon, when I will not be amazed that I can walk two miles over the course of an evening!
Time to stop, not sure whether this is philosophical or maudlin!
